And just like that...he's a toddler zipping around the house!

Amazing Story!
This story is just so moving. It just goes to show that no matter how much time passes you should not give up on your dreams.

2011
January: Hayden has surgery to remove an Inguinal Hernia. Mommy goes back to work and Daddy starts his paternity leave.
February: Papa and Mary come to visit! Otherwise a quiet month of laying low and staying warm.
March: Hayden's adoption is finalized and we celebrate with a "Forever Fiesta!" Mommy takes another leave from work to stay home with Hayden.
April: Tio (Spanish for Uncle) comes to visit and meets Hayden for the first time. Hayden takes his first plane ride to St. Louis for Easter to meet lots of extended family. He rolls over for the first time at the doctor's office.
May: Daddy and Mommy are both back to work part-time and Hayden spends quality time with Grandma!
June: Hayden attends his first Twins baseball game on Father's Day and also learns to sit up by himself. Fun weekend spent at the Wisconsin Dells with our adoption group.
July: A low key month spent mostly splashing in the pool and swinging at the park.
August: We have a small christening/dedication service for Hayden at our home. Hayden attends the Great Minnesota Get-together (State Fair) and sleeps through the entire thing.
September: Hayden learns to crawl while Mommy is in Florida with her girlfriends. We attend our agency's annual picnic and get to visit with many other adoptive families and see our social worker again.
October: We go on a family vacation to Chicago for our anniversary and to celebrate a friend's wedding. Hayden visits the Shedd Aquarium and squeals with excitement during the plane ride.
November: Hayden turns 1 year old! We celebrate by going to the Children's museum and having a tie-dye party with friends and family! Hayden goes on his first roadtrip across Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa to see lots of family for Thanksgiving. We also find out that he is allergic to Amoxicillin.
December: We attend our adoption agency's annual Christmas party. We also celebrate the 1st birthday for all the 1 year old boys in the A-team (4 boys born within 7 weeks of one another!) We have a wonderful Christmas at home celebrating with family. Hayden also has his first x-rays after taking on a slide possibly meant for older boys :)
Whew! What a year!

Strike the Match
Exactly one year ago, on a quiet cold Wednesday night I laid in bed praying, weeping, asking "Why?"
I pulled out my devotional, Streams in the Desert, and this is what I read...
Little did I know, that in the morning I would become a Mommy.
I pulled out my devotional, Streams in the Desert, and this is what I read...
"God's timing is not ours to command. If we do not start the fire with the first strike of our match, we must try again. God does hear our prayer, but He may not answer it at the precise time we have appointed in our own minds. Instead, He will reveal Himself to our seeking hearts, though not necessarily when and where we may expect.
In the old days of flint, steel, and brimstone matches, people had to strike the match again and again, perhaps even dozens of times, before they could get a spark to light their fire, and they were very thankful if they finally succeeded. Should we not exercise the same kind of perseverance and hope regarding heavenly things? When it comes to faith, we have more certainty of success than we could ever have had with flint, and steel, for we have God's promises as a foundation.
May we never despair. God's time for mercy will come- in fact, it has already come, if our time for believing has arrived. Ask in faith without wavering, but never cease to petition the King simply because He has delayed His reply. Strike the match again and make the sparks fly.
Yet be sure to have your tinder ready, for you will get a fire before long."
Little did I know, that in the morning I would become a Mommy.

A techie in the making
Hayden might not be walking or talking...but he does know how to post blog entries from my phone! Yes, the last entry entitled "V" was posted by him when playing with my phone. I didn't even know he did it until a friend emailed me asking if Hayden had been playing with my phone. Too funny!
